| https://preview.redd.it/tgor2akf3zpa1.jpg?width=768&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6d361adc36e584b463fea1669cac851f46071720 Powerful earthquakes and aftershocks struck southern Turkey and northern Syria on the 6th and 20th of February, 2023. The World Health Organization (WHO) estimates that 26 million people need humanitarian assistance. The death toll is climbing above 50,000 and is expected to rise as many victims remain missing.Furthermore, the WHO calls the Turkey-Syria earthquakes the “worst natural disaster” in the region in 100 years. Turkey-Syria Earthquake: What Happened? On February 6th 2023, the first earthquake hit southeastern Turkey and the northern Syrian border, measuring a magnitude of 7.7. Within minutes entire cities turned into rubble. Following this, a second earthquake measuring a magnitude of 7.6 hit the same region a little later. Two weeks later, on February 20th, another earthquake of 6.4 magnitudes struck the same border area previously hit. Moreover, there have been more than 9,000 aftershocks recorded since.caption: This aerial photograph was taken on February 20th, 2023, showing diggers removing the rubble of collapsed buildings in Antakya. Photo credited by Sameer Al-Doumy/AFP via Getty Images. The Aftermath of the Turkey-Syria Earthquakes These earthquakes caused immeasurable devastation for an estimated 26 million people damaging and destroying homes and infrastructure, including approximately 214,000 buildings across both countries. An estimated 240,000 rescue workers continued working in quake-hit provinces in Turkey. They persevered for weeks to find survivors trapped under rubble despite no survivors found for long periods of time. An estimated 1.9 million people are in temporary shelters, hotels, and public facilities. As of February 25th 2023, in Turkey alone, 44,218 people died due to the earthquakes, while the announced death toll in Syria was 5,914 people.Caption: Image obtained by the BBC, by Ekrem Imamoglu. The picture shows a 10-day-old baby being taken to an ambulance after being saved from a collapsed building where trapped for four days under the rubble following the Turkey-Syria earthquake. The international response to the Turkey-Syria earthquake has disproportionately overlooked the Syrian people’s suffering. Syria has faced 12 years of civil war, and with international borders blocked, many Syrians received no help in the first few days after the earthquakes. It took over a week after the earthquakes for Syrian President Bashar al-Assad to issue a three-month authorization for United Nations (UN) aid deliveries to pass through two more border crossings. These significant aid delays resulted from the regime’s influence over affected regions. These unacceptable delays entirely defy the principles of humanitarian law. As a result, Syrians have limited access to search-and-rescue reinforcements and lifesaving aid, unnecessarily costing many precious lives. The UN has failed the people of northwest Syria, highlighting inadequacies within the current system. The slow humanitarian response to the earthquakes severely affecting northwest Syria illustrates the inadequacy of the UN Security Council-mandated cross-border aid mechanism in Syria. Thus, this crisis highlights the urgent need for alternatives to be put in place. The UN Pledges a $1 Billion Appeal For Turkey-Syria Earthquakes The UN launched a $1 billion fundraising appeal to support the humanitarian needs of those affected. This appeal fund will support Turkey’s “once in a generation disaster” for three months and a $397 million appeal to help 4.9 million people in Syria. So far, the UN Central Emergency Response Fund has donated $11.7 million. The UN held that so far, Denmark is the only country recorded to donate aid worth $1.5 million. Human Rights Concerns Following Turkey-Syria Earthquakes Health infrastructure was destroyed in many places, increasing the risk of waterborne diseases like cholera, diarrhoea and typhoid. In Gaziantep, a major city in south-central Turkey, hundreds of people are sleeping in tents in different parts of town, and trash has begun to pile up in public parks where some of these tents are located. Therefore, hygiene problems, as well as inadequate housing, are some of the biggest problems in the region. In addition, the inadequacy of public toilets and the lack of infrastructure to use these toilets increases the risk of epidemics in the region.Caption: A Syrian woman sits in Aleppo, Syria, on a pile of rubble that was once her house. Photograph by Muhammed Said/Anadolu Agency via Getty Images. Children’s Rights in the Aftermath of the Earthquakes According to UNICEF, the recent earthquakes have affected an estimated 5 million children. Natural disasters such as earthquakes have severe consequences for vulnerable groups in society, such as children. As the recovery efforts in Syria and Turkey continue, children’s rights must be a priority. All children must have access to fundamental rights such as food, clean water, and housing. Furthermore, children’s access to education and protection from exploitation and abuse is imperative. Many children in the region are unidentifiable as they are too young to know their full names, while hundreds of children’s parents remain missing.Implementing the general principles of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child is of fundamental importance, especially in times of crisis. An estimated 1.7 million Syrian refugees lived in the ten southern Turkish provinces devastated by the earthquakes. Unfortunately, these refugees rely on temporary or international protection status. Without prior authorization, these refugees cannot travel to other provinces. However, following the earthquakes, Turkish authorities issued a directive allowing refugees in these ten provinces to travel to other regions, except Istanbul, for up to 90 days if they could secure their accommodation. However, in the first few days following the disaster, many fled to Istanbul, resulting in the Directorate General of Migration Management revising its decision to a case-by-case basis due to Turkey’s economic difficulties. There has been a growing anti-Syrian sentiment in Turkey which has become the host of the world’s largest refugee population. Following this, a second directive provided refugees with a 60-day exemption to travel to other provinces without prior authorization. The question remains as to where these Syrian refugees will return to following the expiration of the directive. A Committed and Sustained Global Humanitarian Response is Needed The aftermath of these devastating earthquakes requires a committed and sustained international humanitarian response. Thousands are missing, and 1.5 million are homeless without shelter, food, clean water, and access to healthcare. submitted by turkeysyriaearth to u/turkeysyriaearth [link] [comments] |

2023.03.26 00:36 fifithechinchilla 29 [F] Cut off several in-person friends for being dismissive
Had five surgeries in the last two years. Very traumatic experiences in the middle. Borderline negligent and assault experiences.
I used to have a solid friend group in undergrad. We distanced apart. I had several friends outside of that. These friends I had been in touch with for a good 15 years. However, during my medical experiences, friends were dismissive or didn't even bother to reach out, or they'd pretend they care. Say comments that were half in half out/clueless comments as if they knew what I was going through. I would say something and they wouldn't even acknowledge.
Maybe this is harsh as people don't get it unless you are going through it too, but I just wasn't having it with all these women sending my hearts or remembering me ONLY when I post. Just felt toxic.
The other day, I got into a PhD program, and not one person of my old friend groups even bothered to say something directly to me. This one guy who is in my husband's friend group said something like, "ooh I liked it." It's like okay? You liked it, but didn't use actual words. When I did an informal marriage license with my husband, I never heard from any of my friends directly, only family and family friends. Most just "liked" the post.
I had many health friends on some of these sub-reddits and FB groups actually wishing me well on my surgery day for my PAOs, for my endometriosis surgery, hardware removal, colonoscopy, and using actual words! Not passive likes.
Sad thing is I haven't met any of them in-person and probably won't ever. Most have only talked on phone and once most of them get better, I'm gonna be alone again.

2023.03.26 00:35 shy_147 2023 AAC Experience
I have recently undertaken (and passed) assessment, so thought it may be beneficial to some for an updated summary of the proceedings. It is fairly lengthy, but includes up to date details of the process, which I hope you all find useful.
Day 0
You will be sent an email with links to the various cognitive/maths/English tests around midnight on the day of arrival. They will be available on the portal. Do not click into them, they are one time use. If you click them you may have to reschedule the whole assessment. Do NOT click them!
Do yourself a favour and pack well in advance, not the night before. Double check all documentation you are required to take. You will need two forms of id such as valid driving license, birth certificate or passport, as well as utility bill. Tickets for the train need to be collected from a ticket machine, do not leave it to the morning of travel! In the morning check trainline.com to confirm your train isn't cancelled or delayed.
I got to Lichfield City station and was one of the first in my intake to arrive. After a while loads of lads started filling out the station, no one really spoke as everyone appeared very nervous. It is fairly obvious who is there for assessment.
A member of staff in black came over and guided us to the car park over the road to the coach. We lined up against the wall for a document check. You are given your number here. Remember it, write it on your hand, type it on your phone. The staff do ask a final time if anyone needs reminding once you arrive, but don't be one of those candidates who needs reminding.
When we arrived, we dumped our bags under a covered seating area and lined up in three ranks. We then filed into the main centre and made our way into the lecture theatre. Blue coloured bibs are on the chairs, sit in the seat with your allocated number. We were told to put the bib on and sit in the chair. You get a numbered water bottle and a pen. These two things do not leave your side from now on. Do not lose either of them. We filled out a load of forms, certificates check and place them and your ID in an envelope, we were told to keep these safe until the morning when they would be checked and processed by the admin team. We were then led through to the classroom in groups to check army portal log on works and links for the tests have been sent. After this we watched a brief video outlining the next few days activities.
We then lined up outside, always three ranks from now on. We were sent for dinner at the cook house. Seated and then when ready sent one table at a time to the hot plates. The chef now takes your plate and puts the food on it for you, no self-service. Make sure you finish eating your meal before the staff are done. When told to line up outside make sure you tuck in the chairs and remember water bottles.
Back for ice breaker (name/where you're from, job choice and interesting fact or fear). Its short and sweet, some lads did theirs in literally 15 seconds. Pad it out a bit longer as that is a bit too quick, don’t act like you are rushing through it. Keep eye contact with the entire room, speak nice and loud and clearly. Add a bit of humour. We Then got a break down of Day 1 in more detail, then shown accommodation and given timings for lights out, breakfast, etc. Given access to the rec room. Given time to research roles and to speak to family, relax, TV, etc or access computer room to study for ACT if you haven't already. You are allowed to keep your phone on you for most of your time here, just don’t start using it when you shouldn’t be.
In the accommodation block we were told to put bibs on the end of the beds so if there is an emergency in the night we are easy to identify. Typical military bunks and a locker each. I've stayed in a few barracks in the past and Lichfield is actually pretty decent and modern, don’t get used to it. The pillows are awful, so good tip is to bring your own travel pillow. The bedding is laid out by the previous intake, so you have to make it. Our room agreed alarms at 0530. Many of you will know, barracks are usually either boiling hot or freezing cold. The first night we were all roasting even with the window open.
Day 1
Alarms off at 0530. Get up and straight into shower and shave. It pays to be first here as hot water dropped off for the lads who went a bit later, and if you leave it too late you are queuing for the showers. Start drinking water now as urine sample is required sometime during the morning, but also your run is hopefully tomorrow, so stay hydrated today. Water is always available in reception for top ups or from sinks in the ablutions. Tidy up the room and make your beds as you have a brief room inspection before breakfast. Make sure lockers are shut, bags under beds and bedding is made. Put phone chargers away. Water bottle and pen, then three ranks outside and to breakfast. The bleep test is not until after your medical on day 2 so eat as much as possible today. Lunch is provided during your various assessments, but not in the cookhouse. Highly suggest no caffeine as it can affect ECG later on, although plenty of lads drank it and were fine. Personally, I went without as didn’t want to chance it.
Back to the lecture theatre. We were told to take a sample bottle from the grey tray and write our number on it. We were told at any point if we needed to urinate for our sample to just go to the toilet without asking. Fill it, rinse it off and place it in the pink tray. Dont be like one bloke who bought his sample back with him into the theatre, that went down like a lead balloon with the staff and had us all howling. We had another brief power point presentation with a run through of the Army Cognitive Tests, which included examples. There were tips/advice given by the staff which was helpful. You are allowed pen and paper during the ACT’s so you can write things down to help if needed. You will be going between the classroom for tests and the med block for medical tests depending how busy it is. The admin team arrived and checked our documents, we signed the envelope and it was then sealed. After this we had a briefing by medical staff and briefly check med forms are correct. Required to wear mask at all times during the medical process. They hand these out so don’t worry about bringing your own. They take you through in small groups. I was led to a waiting room with about 5 other lads and told to take everything off apart from t-shirt, shorts, shoes, socks, jewelry is allowed if it is religious. If you end up in a waiting room, try to sit at the front as they call the front in first, otherwise be prepared for a long wait.
You are initially filtered through the below tests, the results of which are put into your medical folder. You can fail at this stage but will not be told until they have been reviewed by the doctor prior to having your physical examination, you will be told of a failure/deferral during this examination. The nurses measure height and weight, calculate your BMI, check your eye sight (if you have a recent optometrist report they seem to skip this step if the results of the report are within the limits), colour blind test (book with coloured dotted circles with numbers and you have to read out the numbers that you can see), ECG and potentially an echocardiogram and a hearing test. There is lots of waiting and queuing but to be fair I was never in the same spot for long. You may be sent off for tests in-between to speed up process. I was sent to the classroom for tests twice in a row because the doctor’s waiting room was too busy.
A few notes on the hearing test. It is a very hot booth; you will sweat in it. The test starts as soon as the door shuts and the beeps are a lot quieter than you imagine they will be. You still have to wear your mask at this point so you will hear yourself breathing, try to breath slowly and quietly.
During this process I undertook the ACT (useful link to practice these at the end of this post) and because I went for a trade, the TST. For this you are given 45 minutes. You are allowed to use (and given) a calculator. It covers GCSE level mathematics, so think ratios, percentages, decimals, averages, fractions, volume, speed, distance and time and a bit of algebra. Good resources for this if you haven’t recently taken your GCSE’s and need some revision, are BBC Bitesize and Corbett Maths. Don’t panic too much about this, you should be able to get the minimum required for your role if you revise two or three weeks before hand. I would recommend taking it even if the role you are initially going for (e.g. infantry) doesn’t require it. You have nothing to lose taking it, if you score enough (easily achievable) it can unlock other job roles you may not have thought about.
A note about the classroom – when you enter, keep your voice to a whisper as people will be in and out all morning undertaking tests. This also goes for waiting rooms in the med block, keep your voices down and don’t let your excitement/nerves get the better of you and you all start running your mouth. It will not go down well.
When you are finally seated in the doctor’s waiting room, you are asked to complete short medical form. It asks about close family history, if you have suffered any particular diseases or issues in the past. Do not lie on this form, be honest, but it goes without saying, there is no need to state anything if it is not on your medical records.
The doctor will check your blood pressure, your joints and tendons, lungs/breathing, eyes, teeth, movements, hip mobility. Discussion around anything declared by you on the form in reception and on your RGMD form your own doctor completed. You will be asked to strip down to your underwear and perform a few variations of walking on a line, e.g. on your tip toes, on the sides of your feet, etc. You will squat and duck walk, they will check neck rotation, shoulder rotation, flexibility to some extent and finally do 5 press ups and to hold the last rep. At this stage you either pass with a green bib and can continue, an orange bib means you are deferred, no run for you on Day 2 but you are fit to do the mid-thigh pull, med ball throw and the team tasks. A red bib is a fail. That means no exercise at all but I believe you can continue with the team tasks and interview. If you receive no bib at all, you are sent home there and then as this is a deferral for 12 months or a bar from service.
At some point after your deemed fit for service you will perform the mid-thigh pull and med ball throw. Mid-thigh pull is essentially a rack pull with a fixed bar. You will be given two or three chances to complete, and pull for 5 seconds with everything you have got. The best way to prepare for this in the gym is either deadlifts or if you are worried about form and injuring your back, rack pulls, which closely resembles this test. The med ball throw can be a bit strange at first but you shouldn’t need to practice it more than a few times. Prepare for this by doing bench press, dips and push ups.
You grab lunch from reception and eat in the rec room. We were then shown a DVD in reception showing 14 weeks of basic training and a chat from Catterick PTI regarding infantry. Reserves pulled aside for another chat on top outlining the reserves process which is slightly different. After this we got our boiler suits, gloves and helmets issued for team tasks on Day 3, and were told to leave them in the rec room. At this point the next intake of candidates had arrived. We were told under no circumstances should we approach them. At dinner we were given the opportunity to use the onsite shop. I used this as an opportunity to buy food for the travel back the next day on the train. I highly recommend trying to get as much sleep as possible for tomorrow.
Day 2
0530 wake up call again. Start drinking now. Shower, shave, sports kit. Use any spare minutes now to pack your stuff away as best you can, as you will not have a great deal of time to do it later. Ideally, you want everything besides your clothes for interview packed away in your bags before you head down to eat. We also had to strip the dirty linen off our beds and lay out the new sheets as per pictures dotted around the block. Our intake was about 28 so no one slept on the top bunks, so we just copied the layout from those. Breakfast at 0620. Eat light as you will be doing the bleep test soon after 0800. We then waited in the rec room for the PTI to arrive and brief us on the test. He also went through a series of slides regarding healthy eating habits, fitness, what to expect at basic, etc. We were told to fill your bottles up and we were then led outside for test. Fill your bottle to the brim as it will be checked. You are split into groups of 7-8. You then meet another PTI to perform a warm up. The warm up was actually taxing and easily felt like the first 3 or 4 levels of bleep test, so be aware, it did catch a lot of us off guard. Start practicing the test at home with a 10 minute warm up prior, either a 1km run or a few levels of the test first.
We were told three strikes in a row do not count towards score if consecutive, so if you get one, catch up to get the next beep, get a second warning, catch up to make the next one, third strike you are out. Do NOT stop at your chosen role, you need to be a few levels above (if going for Para’s at 11.6 they stop it here anyway). You need to put maximum effort in and come off the test feeling like you are going to puke. Your interviewer will be watching at the side lines as well, so it really needs to be full on effort.
When you receive your third and final warning or they stop the test, you are led to a cool down, then into the rec room and your boiler suits. You are kept in the same teams as your run to complete the team tasks. You need to be vocal, even when you are not doing anything and waiting for your turn for example, you need to be encouraging your team members. Spend a few minutes, discussing as a team, everyone’s ideas and agree on the best one. It is key here that you all ensure everyone knows what they are doing and when. You need to work at pace, with a sense of urgency. We were explained you would be doing tasks such as this under enemy fire, so you need to be loud, you need to be shouting encouragement and you need to be moving at speed.
Once complete you will take off all your gear and place it back in the room. We were then given about 20 minutes to head back to the block, shower and get dressed for our interview, this was fairly chaotic as everyone seemed to finish the team tasks at a similar time, so people were queuing for the shower at this point. This is where packing when you got up or the night before will help you with time management.
We got to have a cooked lunch in the cookhouse this time, rather than a baguette. We were then led back to the lecture theatre for a final time. Here we had to sit in chairs at the back of the room, that did not have bibs placed on them, as a new intake would be arriving that evening. You wait for your interviewer to call your number.
You will be led through the back of the theatre into an office where you will sit down and discuss the following:
How you think you did, the army’s values and standards (know your CDRILS – not just what it stands for, but examples of how you apply them in your civilian life and how you utilise them in the army itself), job choice and info around that role. You don’t need to go overboard, but I would recommend knowing a good amount about the regiment or corps you want to join, the role itself, what is involved, where the regiment/corps are currently serving, etc. You need to know about phase 1 and phase 2 training, and give detailed answers about what is involved. Your interviewer will then go through the results of the cognitive and technical tests, your beep test score/run time, mid-thigh/med ball results and team tasks. They will then grade your score and issue your certificate. When there is enough of you done, they will minibus you back to station.
I managed to pass with an A grade. I kept my mouth shut and listened. If I didn’t understand something, I asked for them to clarify, it is better to ask again than to try wing it and get it wrong, I tried to be almost over the top confident, but not cocky or loud (but be loud in the team tasks!), I socialised just enough with the rest of the lads, but stayed away from the over the top throbbers thinking it is a weekend away at Butlins, keep your room tidy and your things kept away. Keep your phone out of sight unless you are on down time or the rec room. Sit up straight and don't slouch. Eat and shower fast and finally, keep your water bottle and pen on you always.
I hope the above helps ease some nerves of new candidates and gives an insight into the current process at assessment.

2023.03.26 00:18 TheButterMouse Steaming Hot
Hotpalming was the final nail in the coffin of my youth. Even with tattoos up my arms and piercings in both ears, the pain this trend involved was beyond my comprehension.
Like all fads, the beauty was in the simplicity. If you had access to a mug, some boiling water, and instant coffee, you could join the club. You did not even need to drink the coffee. Just take the pain.
Most dipped in two fingertips, and withdrew with nothing more than a few blisters. Those who took hotpalming seriously sunk everything up to their wrist into a steaming vessel, and bit back the screams.
This was a shocking sight at first. People shouted, knocked over cups, reached for bandages. The stern faces of medics and off duty police officers became a common sight around coffee stalls. Many cafes suggested a ban of hot drinks for those under eighteen, although this changed when the money rolled in.
Restaurants started providing ice with every order. Kids wore gloves in sunny weather. Parents howled, but what are you going to do, throw away your kettle?
Soon you drank hot chocolate, and rolled your eyes as another group of teenagers staggered off with their hands in cling film. I reckon the fad was weeks away from dying when everything kicked off.
I happened to be in a cafe that day, sipping herbal tea. No-one else was reading a physical newspaper. A few youngsters were hotpalming, but I focused on the football reports.
The nearest kid looked much like the others. Leather jacket. Make up around the eyes. Hand bathing in his drink. Fifteen seconds was usually the limit. But this kid, he kept his hand locked inside the enamel prison, and the clock on the wall ticked round. His face was still, like he was watching birds skim across a lake.
I had never interrupted a hotpalming session, and did not want to be the stick in the mud that my age suggested. But that clock kept ticking, and his hand remained below the surface. Something oily covered the skin of his coffee.
‘Are you ok?’ I said.
‘How is everything so cold?’ He replied, his eyes getting wider.
Gravity still applied. With a swish of my arm the kid was free. The cup shattered on the floor, steam rising from the contents. Clean white bone protruded from under the sleeve of his leather jacket, still held together despite the lack of any muscle. He flexed his digits into a thumbs up, and grinned a weak grin.
Many other patrons got to their feet, and called for help from the counter staff. But the groups of teenagers sat in silence, hands locked inside their drinks. A greasy chip shop smell overpowered the calming scent of coffee beans.
The radio said something was important.

2023.03.26 00:14 Kazumi_The_Introvert My friends smoke and drink all the time, they rarely wanna hang out if they're sober
So I'm 24 (male if it matters) and my group of friends range from 19-27. I am highly allergic to cigarettes, allergic to weed (the smoke but haven't tested other stuff), and I choose not to drink because I take medication. I know most people my age are kinda doing their whole party and testing the limits phase, I am pretty cool with people doing what they want and just doing my own thing. I basically just say that I can't do those things and leave me out if that's what you're going to do. I also feel like the responsible friend that cuts them off when their wasted and so on.
But it is extremely rare when we get to hang out when everyone is sober, and these are people I talk to every single day. I get sent texts of them smoking/drinking all the time. I usually joke that they are being stupid (because they are) but I never say they can't do what they want. They usually just throw "it's not my fault you're allergic" or complain when I leave. Don't get me wrong, I love my friends, but I don't love being the only one sober every night when we are trying to have a good time.
I tried talking to them about it and they are better about not complaining if I leave, but it still sucks. One ended up sober one night and started to complain that our other friends were annoying when drunk/high. Even joked saying he gets what I mean now, but of course that changed nothing. Idk what to do. I know I can find new friends if I had to but I dont want to.

2023.03.26 00:11 HardRustage Looking for experienced crew to descend the abyss.
Hey there everybody!
Me and one other veteran have been looking for a crew for some time now to replace some inactive and stubborn members of our current ship. We have chosen the starting vessel for our campaign to be the “Thanatos” from the workshop. Mods for the playthrough will be kept “vanilla like”. Suggestions are happily appreciated.
Requirements:
-A working, non-dogshit microphone. Text chat is not an effective communication mode.
-16-18 years is preferred but not necessarily a deciding factor. If we deem you to be mature enough for our group, age is not necessary.
-Basic familiarity with barotrauma controls, systems, and gameplay.
-Commitment to the GMT-2:30 time zone as it is time in which games will be organized. If you cannot make evening times for sessions then we would suggest looking elsewhere. Sorry.
Rules:
We are intending to keep this playthrough casual in nature with a very chill, laid back atmosphere. However we still want all who apply to PLAY THE GAME. If you are going to join our crew you are required to act at least somewhat professionally, petty disputes and annoying children are not tolerated. No getting uppity with anyone either, if you have a problem with anyone in the crew you will address it privately amongst yourselves or ask me or my colleague to deal with it. Insubordination is DEFINITELY NOT tolerated. You are allowed to debate among leadership and peers, we are not an oligarchy; when that behaviour becomes unfavourable and just plain hard to deal with you can take your sass back to the school yard. We are adults who will not accept the wining of children.
What we need:
We need assistants, security guards, mechanical engineers and a helmsman. The positions of electrical engineer and medical doctor have been filled, but are open to new members if other positions have been filled.
We ask anyone who decides to double up on positions to politely decide amongst themselves how to organize their talent trees to maximize efficiency.
We would also like to note that the position of helmsman does not make you the boss of our submarine. You will answer still to me (electrical engineer) and the medical doctor for leadership, as they are our preferred positions. We will have full control of the lobby and communication server so please don’t inherit the brazen, arrogant attitude all captains seem to abide by.
Before you apply please read the WHOLE post and then privately message me on Reddit if you want to join the crew. I will then send you my discord tag and then we have an “interview” of sorts. Just to check mic and mannerisms.
Any please if you are on the fence, we don’t bite. We are all friends here. We would love to get to know more people from around the world and share our love of this amazing game!
So please, please consider us!
Thanks to all who decide to apply! Cheers!

2023.03.25 23:38 Any-Discussion-5934 What should I do about my attraction?
I am black, grew up in a 95% black country. But as far I can remember my primary attraction was always mostly towards white men, as a kid my first celebrity crush was Kevin Costner and I wanted to be Whitney Houston and so on.
I started to have sex at an early age, I knew I always wanted to bottom but I never really enjoyed it. When I told other bottom friends that bottoming was always painful no matter what the size and the guy expertise they never understood why(me either).
The first time I got insanely crazy about sex was with a 42 years old French white guy, I was 21. when he stopped talking to me I went through a depression (didn’t know what depression was until recently), it lasted almost a year. It was the first time I felt like needing a man in my entire existence. My entourage could see me suffering but couldn’t put a finger on it.
2 years later I met my Belgian white boyfriend we were together for 3 years( the happiest years of my life). He made me discover myself, my sexuality, my identity, gave me the best sex I ever had. And with him I started to collect the dots that I only feel that intense emotion and connection only with white men.
Before him I already had sex with more than 70 guys by the age of 23, and only 1 black guy gave me enjoyable painless sex. I could get fucked multiple times a day by him and only feel pleasure while the others were mostly painful.
After him I dated a Latin guy for almost a year, I was madly in love with him, but it’s now that I recognize that I was in love with who he was but sex was never really that great, most of the time I ended up bleeding during penetration, I gave him sex cause I was horny and he wanted but not because it was enjoyable.
Moved to the US in 2017, I had a lot of sex with every ethnicity, there were always the same pattern, most of white guys give me painless sex while with the other non whites were extremely painful with me bleeding.
2020 was THE COUP DE GRACE, met that British guy with 9 inches, we fuck always without lube, no pain involved at all, never enjoyed getting fucked like that, it felt like a drug, my whole body was at his mercy, no gag reflex, no repulsion. He was shocked seeing how easily I took his cock everywhere, lockdown came and he became distant.. went through a severe clinical depression and anxiety, I’m still on medication….
My therapist did a throughout job, we found out that my attraction to white men is not even comparable to other ethnic groups. And that I’m also only happy in relationships while my body counts is over 500.
Now I hate myself, I don’t see a way out of it when living in a country where white guys see u as a useless cumdump. While European guys are so considerate, respectful, don’t treat you like disposable garbage for their last option. It’s becoming increasingly unsustainable at this point and I don’t see any light at the end of the tunnel

2023.03.25 23:27 jimi_poultri Request for recommendations and a pseudo-review for Cresco's Oregon Silver Haze LLR.
| Ok so back when the pandemic hit I did 2 major things. Those were get my PAMMJ card and switch to working from home. Well after putting it off for as long as I possibly could, this past week I finally had to physically return to work. And I realized that I have to totally switch up everything about how I medicate. The days of indica wake and bakes have unfortunately come to an end, during the week at least. lol So the new plan is cartridges of strains that historically I tend to steer clear of. Sativas and Hybrids that lean that way. So what I really need are recommendations for good daytime strains for work. That'll promote energy and focus and a pleasant mood. But id like to try and avoid anything to heart racey that may mess with my anxiety. Im an experienced heavy indica smoker with a high tolerance. But since ive always stayed away from these kind of strains I dont really know exactly what I'm looking for here. I tried this one because of the lineage. I figured how can you go wrong with Northern Lights x Skunk #1 right? Two of the most Iconic strains ever grown. Plus in my experience Cresco's LLR's are usually really good. It was decent. Nice balance. I thought it was eather harsh though. It kinda killed my throat. If I had to give it a number I'd say 6.5 or 7 outta 10. Ok but nothing to get excited about. So id love any recommendations any of you may have. Please and thank you! 😁😵💫 submitted by jimi_poultri to PaMedicalMarijuana [link] [comments] |
2023.03.25 23:20 figgtreedreams Wondering if
I had my post removed for “safety” and claiming where the disorder comes from on another sub. That’s not at all what I’m trying to do here, I’m hoping to have a discussion about various presentations on DID and how we can use our experiences to best explain what we all experience to our medical health care professionals.
I hope I’m better received here! It would be beneficial to the community I hope!
I’m wondering if -
A clearer picture of the variants of DID would help people get better care and diagnosis.
I’ve been working on this for some time, and put a groundwork down for a variant I would name CR-DID - Character Relativity DID. When a person with DID greatly admires, understands or adopts characters that fill system roles and helps with a sense of self-identity, that clinical DID from the DSM5 presents.
I would argue that there are two variants of CR-DID, CR-DID1 and CR-DID2. One having a smaller group of very diverse aspects, that may seem or appear very characterized. Vs CR-DID2 which tends to be systems who adopt/adapt or form multiple and many characters to f help fill a sense of identity through relating to the character and having them manifest as apart of the system.
These two presentations are different than traditional DID, where if there are fictives and or introjects, these are aspects that have been around most of your life, and influenced you, helped you be strong, and acted like a parent role or the opposite, in the extreme way with dissociation and self identity.
My goal and belief is that we can work to hammer out the differences in presentation by narrowing down the different variants to give everyone better care, and clearer terminology to define their experience.

2023.03.25 23:12 LiThPerson 1932 Democratic Labor Party Presidential Primary (PSUS History)
| The Primary The Democratic-Labor party is a left-wing party in the United States that has existed since the early 1910s when it was formed from a merger of numerous American leftist parties. It is based in the Midwest and Northeast and along with the right-wing liberal party, has served as one of the two main political parties since its inception. The party has won 3 of the 5 presidential elections since 1912, with Eugene V. Debs re-elected in 1912 and 1916 and Upton Sinclair elected to a single term in 1924. The party nominated John Michael McCarthy in 1920 and Andrew Lattimore in 1928, who lost to Warren Harding and Herbert Hoover respectively. Senator Harry Baals of the state of Tippecanoe has served as General Secretary of the Democratic Labor Party since 1927. Baals’ primary campaign promise was the establishment of a national primary system, which is to be implemented for the 1932 election. The primary proposal was approved by the party in 1928 and primary elections were scheduled for December 1931 in the states of California, Yucatan, Louisiana, Tippecanoe, Ohio, New Brunswick, Gerr, and New York in order to allocate the electors of those states proportionally based on the individual results. States Participating in the Primary Background In the 1928 election, Herbert Hoover, the Liberal candidate for president, prevailed over Andrew Lattimore, the Democratic-Labor candidate. Lattimore’s campaign was fraught with issue after issue, most notably his running mate, Al Smith, withdrawing from the campaign and disavowing Lattimore. Significant numbers of Democrats crossed party lines to vote for Hoover in an effort headed by Fiorello LaGuardia’s “Democratic-Laborites for Hoover” organization. Lattimore ran a problematic campaign, accusing Hoover of wishing to desegregate the federal government and playing to Hoover’s right on racial issues, which hurt his chances among his primarily progressive party. The 71st congress saw neither the Liberal nor Democratic-Labor party gain a majority in the Senate and a coalition government was formed between the Liberals and a minor fascist party, the Party of Progress and National Salvation in order to reach a majority. Though the right-wing coalition has controlled congress, the Democratic-Labor party has been able to pass some of its agenda, including raising the minimum wage, making lynching a federal crime, and establishing a salary for congressmen. To the chagrin of the party, a second attempt at social security was vetoed by President Hoover. The senate near-unanimously passed a national referendum on prohibition, which was then approved by voters but temporarily halted by the courts due to constitutional issues. Issues Civil Rights The Democratic-Labor party mostly supports increasing civil rights, but many individual votes are apathetic about the issue. The party nominated Andrew Lattimore, a southern anti-civil rights candidate for president in 1928, but Lattimore lost in a landslide. Voters this year are likely looking for a candidate that is less openly racist. The Democratic-Labor party cooperates to a moderate extent with the National Association for the Advancement of Minorities, led by party member Al Smith. The group has consistently lobbied for civil rights and has some level of control over the nominee. The courts stand in the way of most significant progress in Civil Rights. The early 1900s decision of Calhoun Blythe v. Georgia ruled that the forcible integration or segregation of businesses was outside the scope of government power and the court since then, despite being dominated by Democratic-Labor nominees, has upheld that precedent. Any Democratic-Labor president will have to find a way to implement civil rights while avoiding constitutional challenges. The Economy The economy remains the most important issue to American Voters in 1931. President Hoover has presided over a strong economy, but many within the Democratic-Labor party warn that this period of prosperity may not last. In the past, and especially under Presidents Debs and Sinclair, the party has advocated for the gradual establishment of a socialist system within the United States, but the moderate wing of the party, populated by welfare capitalists and social democrats, has been growing quickly since the mid-1920s. Concerning workers’ rights, the party nearly unanimously supports better protection for workers and increased power of labor. The National Federation of Workingmen, the largest labor organization in the United States, is a critical endorsement for the candidates in this race. Foreign Policy The Democratic-Labor party typically supports isolationism and non-interventionism in world affairs. President Debs prevented the US from entering into the Great War in the 1910s, but did enter into the Mexican Revolution, establishing a puppet government and annexing a strip of land in Northern Mexico. The three primary locations of debate in foreign policy are Madagascar, Haiti, and the Pacific in general. In the 1880s, President John D. Rockefeller executed a plan to build a Jewish population in Madagascar, which is an American territory. The Jewish population in the territory has nearly reached 300 thousand and questions remain concerning whether to divide the island into two territories: one for Jews and one for native Malagasy. In the American territory of Haiti, a recent slew of bombings by Haitian Nationalists has attracted extra attention. The nominee will grapple with whether to grant more autonomy to the rebellious Haitians or even to grant complete independence. The increase of Japanese and German control in the pacific is seen by some as a threat to American power, especially with the Japanese Empire’s recent successful conquest of the Independent Hawaiian Kingdom. The candidates must choose whether to confront Japan and Germany directly in the pacific or continue an isolationist foreign policy. Prohibition In 1929, President Hoover signed an act to schedule a national referendum for election day of that year. This referendum was approved by a majority of voters and congress was bound to establish an enforcement mechanism by June 1930. The mechanism of the referendum, however, was held up in court when the supreme court issued an injunction against national prohibition. Alcohol remains legal on the national level, but the supreme court will likely decide the question of prohibition before the 1932 election. Despite not enforcing full prohibition, the Brady Bill, which imposed certain limits and taxes on alcohol, was signed by President Hoover. The Democratic-Labor party, like the Liberal party, remains split on the topic of prohibition and has not chosen a unified position despite many attempts to do so. Candidates Justice Erwin Silas Hall Justice Erwin Hall Associate Justice of the Supreme Court, 1917-present Erwin S. Hall is the 45-year-old Associate Justice of the Supreme Court who was appointed by President Eugene V. Debs in 1917. He previously served as a federal judge. While Associate Justice, Hall supported upholding the constitutionality of the National Health Service, which was President Debs’ Universal Healthcare service. He also wrote a lone dissent in Lincoln ex rel. Greene v. Washoe, arguing that states could constitutionally confiscate the assets of people registered as members of designated terrorist organizations. Politically, Hall runs as a moderate, supporting the capitalist system while extending his support to the public energy and healthcare systems. He also supports the rights of unions to collectively bargain. Hall is fully supportive of civil rights and advocates for the United Klans of America to be outlawed on the federal level. He also believes that segregation is both unconstitutional and immoral. Hall contrasts with the other candidates in his hawkish views on foreign policy. During the conflict between the independent Hawaiian Kingdom and the Japanese-German coalition, Hall advocated for American intervention in the war on the side of Hawaii. In addition to this, he supports the strengthening of the navy, improving relations with China, and retaining Madagascar as one territory. Hall has been criticized by members of his party for his hawkish stances and has toned down his rhetoric while on the campaign trail. On prohibition, Justice Hall has condemned the referendum as unconstitutional and wishes to repeal it. Regarding taxes, he favors Land Value Tax over the Income Tax and opposes President Hoover’s efforts to eliminate it. Hall has run a campaign of reaching out to Liberal and Independent voters, touting his bipartisan credentials and even expressing his openness to appointing Liberals to cabinet positions. Endorsed By: Senator Harry Baals of Tippecanoe Senator Thomas Pope Senator Thomas Pope Senator from Ohio, 1929-present Thomas Pope is the 43-year-old Senator from Ohio who has been serving since 1929. Pope also serves as Senate Minority Leader, a position he has held since he was sworn into the Senate. On the economy, Pope promises a regulated market while still retaining a capitalist system and the expansion of infrastructure. Other policy proposals advocated by Pope include the minting of silver at a 16-to-1 ratio with gold and a one-dollar-an-hour minimum wage. On civil rights, Pope calls for immediate desegregation, especially in the education system. Pope is an isolationist that supports alliances with Japan and Germany to preserve peace in the Pacific. Pope supports the end of defensive treaties with Great Britain, having attacked such agreements as worthless. On the Madagascar situation, Pope has publicly left his options open, refusing to commit to dividing the territory or preserving it as one. Pope is also the author of the Brady Bill, which set certain limits on nationwide alcohol use. On the campaign trail, Pope has accumulated numerous endorsements and is attempting to run a campaign of unity. He has attacked his former rival, Governor Omar Bradley, for being too close to the establishment, but Bradley has since dropped out and endorsed Pope. Endorsed by: Birmingham Mayor Robert Johnson, Jr. of Mississippi Senator Kalina Katsumi Perkins of Yellowstone Governor Lara Pecados of Yucatan Senator Nestor A. Colon-Cruz of Cuba Governor Omar Bradley of Virginia Former Mayor and President of the National Association for the Advancement of Minorities Al Smith Senator Dorothy Day Senator Dorothy Day Leader of the Catholic Workers’ Association, 1923-present Senator from Arizona, 1933-present Dorothy Day is the 35-year-old Senator from Arizona since 1931. Day also has served as the leader of the Catholic Workers’ Association, which advocates for the cause of Christian Socialism. Day advocates for the country to transition to libertarian socialism, but in the meantime, she supports government protections for workers. Day’s campaign promises are similar to those of former President Upton Sinclair in their calls for a radical restructuring of the economy. On civil rights, Day takes a hard line in favor of equal rights, implying that it will be a top priority of her administration if elected. Day supports a process of a referendum before entering into any foreign war, a unique proposal that may gain her support from the anti-imperialist wing of the party. She also supports a referendum on the status of Madagascar to be held within the territory. Regarding prohibition, she has been noncommittal, stating that it was “so far been beneficial” but leaving options open in the future. Day’s campaign has been low-profile without attacks on the other candidates, but her geographical proximity to California makes her especially competitive in that state, which is one of the states holding primaries. 2023.03.25 23:12 GunMetalVenom Is Panic Disorder Curable?
So this is my third time on SSRI. What once started as a gastritis resulted be a psychiatric disorder. My history on this meds have been(Generics name to avoid promoting any particular brand):
-2017 Paroxetine 12.5mg - 3 months(I quit) Dr A -2018 Escitalopram 10 - 6 months(Dr agreed) Dr B -2019 No meds. Joined CrossFit -2021 Knee i jury -2021 Escitalopram 6 months(I quit)Dr C
I spent 2022 having gastrointestinal issues despite the fact I could return to CrossFit but as I was promoted on 2021 to manager at work(maybe the cause) I could have breakfast normally but lunch was hard to swallow most of the time without appetite. 2 times reached ER after CrossFit workouts but symptoms ceased since was all in my head. So starting 2023 mom(who don’t like when I’m on psychiatric meds) convinced me to visit doctor again.
This time, since January, I’m on Sertraline 50mg and still on 0.5mg Clonazepam. Last Wednesday my doctor told me to raise the dose to 100mg and to start tampering the clonazepam. She said that 100 was the therapeutic dose for Panic Disorder.
I opened to her on my opinion on living my life drug free so she told me we need to wait at least a year symptom free before trying to tamper the SSRI. This time I’m working with a Psychologist simultaneously for cognitive therapy and also joined a meditation group. This time I’m willing to follow the time needed to recover from this but the dose increase has me in doubt.
I still workout at CrossFit box 5 times a week and I feel much better but I wouldn’t like to live on this meds forever since I feel they numb my feelings and the sexual issues I don’t ever have to mention. I can have erections ejaculations are delayed. Most of the time I don’t even care about sex or women and I don’t like it.
My two questions are: -Do I really need to up my dose to 100mg sertraline or 50mg had succeeded in the past? -Do I need to take mads forever? Because I know people who do.
I have no other medical condition apart from this.

It’s semi-realism, so we use mods like ACE3 and ACRE2, while having a blast in a set of missions that are tailor-made for us.
Roster: We currently have a roster of roughly 10-14 regularly active members and would love to increase that number!
Infantry roles are first come first serve.
Our Operations: -Playstyle Campaigns are typically themed with limited arsenals, we run combined arms operation with everything from technicals, MRAP's, IFV's, MBT's, and rotor wing supports.
Roles are typically assigned on a first come-first serve basis, and might change depending on the squad/team leader's desired composition.
-Times We play every Saturday, Monday, and Tuesday at 7 pm EST.
Our Systems: Modpack updates are provided prior to each campaign. These changes are few and far between when a campaign is running to avoid any incompatibilities.
Our Requirements: · We expect a mature audience. Minimum age is 18.
· Join our discord and talk to a staff member.
· Have a microphone, ArmA 3, and be comfortable in the English Language.
What we’re looking for: We’re looking for anyone interested in light-milsim in ArmA 3. We do not offer any “formal training”, but on request will teach any new players all the basics and advanced stuff one needs to learn regarding ArmA, ACE3, ACRE2, and operating in general! A dedicated sense of working in a group, as the group as a whole isn't very large, we rely on regular attendance to keep the Zeus motivated in making great content.
Currently looking to recruit a variety of specialized interests:
· Medics
· Infantry
· Logistics/Engineering
· Armor

2023.03.25 23:03 No_Capital_4523 Exhausting and discouraging Autism Diagnosis 21F
This is a long post but I needed to explain in detail some of the things this doctor said because I found the whole thing to be kind of ridiculous I am 21yr F and recently began the process of being diagnosed with Autism and my experience was much different than i had expected. I waited for over a year for my It virtual appointment with a neurologist at an Autism Clinic called Neurabilities. I had filled out all of the pre appointment paper work. The whole appointment had lasted about 65 minutes. When i first got into the appointment she asked me about my current medications. I told her my only medication I was prescribed is adderall. She asked who prescribed me that and I told her it was my current primary care doctor who i see virtually. She again asks me the name of the doctor and I told her I can't remember her name since I've only seen her 3 times. She scoffed and said "really? she's your primary care doctor and you don't even remember her name?" I got anxious and said "no, i'm not really good at remembering names, sorry" I have a hard time reading people's demeanors and often have the conception that people are angry with me, so this made me incredibly anxious. To me, it seemed as if she didn't want to be there. I was semi-expecting the doctor to ask me questions to help guide the conversation but she really said "ok... so tell me about it" i didn't really understand where she wanted me to go with that question so i had briefly said that i've always dealt with issues relating to anxiety, overstimulation, social issues, struggles with reading/writing, etc especially in school and had a long history of being in the mental health system/alternative schooling because of how hard it was for me to function and get through school. I talked about how it significantly affects my current everyday functioning and ability to attend school and take care of myself. Less than 10 mins into the appointment she started questioning me as to why i even want the diagnosis because it won't help me, since i can't receive any specific support like i would if i younger and in public school. This threw me off and added to my anxiety. I talked about how it would be validating to know if this is what is actually going on with me because i've been in therapy since age 5 and started medication at age 11 and had been prescribed countless different psych meds and misdiagnosed many times because of the effects of these medications. Throughout the entire time of being in the mental health system nobody was able to truly figure out what is going on with me and i've continued to struggle my entire life. She cut me off and said she can't diagnose me because of all these pre-existing conditions that i have including ADHD, PTSD, Social anxiety, Depression. She said that if you have social anxiety of course you're going to struggle in social situations, It doesn't mean you're autistic. At this point i started crying and had to fight myself to speak up. I asked her, so you're not even going to ask me about any of my symptoms? The overstimulation, the meltdowns - I started listing off symptoms of being sensitive to lights, textures, sounds, what overstimulation feels like to me, stimming, not understanding social queues, etc. She cut me off again and brought up how on the questionnaire i had listed BPD and Bipolar under diagnoses (WITH PARENTHESES SAYING THEY WERE MISDIAGNOSES THAT I DONT BELIEVE I HAVE AND AFTER ALREADY EXPLAINING THIS) And yet again i had to explain to her that the reason I put those was to show that i have a history of being misdiagnosed because of my emotional disregulation and had side effects from being on very high doses of meds that i SHOULD NOT have been on. Since stopping my meds over two years ago I've been able to connect and understand myself and my body again in a way i was never able to while i was on meds. All of the symptoms that i had never experienced before the meds went away. Since then i've been to 2 intensive outpatient programs and two therapists who primarily treat neurodivergent/autistic clients and it's been the belief of all of them that i am autistic. She also brought up the fact that I vape and have a medical marijuana card 3 different times at random points during the appointment, to which each time I told her I have reached out to a program to quit nic and I smoke weed 1-2times a week as needed for anxiety attacks. Recently it's been even less than that because of school. She asked me to continue to list off "things i thought might be important" without any further elaboration. Luckily I had prepared a long list with my therapist of things i thought might be traits of autism and spent a good majority of our time referencing that list and trying to think of other things from memory. She then concluded that i have more than half of the criteria of ASD and it's her belief i have high functioning autism. She is going to speak with my therapist to confirm the rest of the criteria, but if not she is going to refer me to take the ADOS test which will take over a year. She then asked me if i had any questions for her. I asked her if there's any support groups or literally any kind of referral for supports because it feels really hard to live my everyday life and i feel like there has got to be other people in my situation struggling the same way. she said "no, i don't know of anything. let me know if you find one though i have lots of people like you who would benefit from that" With that our session concluded and it's been a little less than a week and i'm still waiting to hear back from them. Maybe I am being dramatic but I genuinely feel so discouraged after that assessment. How are you going to be a center specializing in autism - treat patients like that, and not have any kind of suggestions for support?
